Steel cable winch + hook
For augmenting the engineering possibilities around pistons and rotors I suggest the implementation of a motor type which is turning a drum containing a steel cable, not much different from the existing wooden winch we see in 'Medieval Engineers'. As you turn the motor winch into forward or reverse upon push of a button, it unwinds or winds up a strong steel cable which serves you for pulling things. Together with an existing pulley block this opens up many engineer solutions of crane types and the application of mechanical pulling strength around corners, over cantilever beams and for moving elevator cabins etc... An associated hook block helps attaching this steel cable to objects to drag them thereby. Also a method for securing cargo on a place when you don't trust landing gears or connectors to attach blocks temporarily to one surface. You hold it in place by attached steel cables on four sides. Too much load on the cable may cause it to break. Then you may construct machinery with multiple winches for adding strength.

I wish I had more votes... I firmly support this idea.

oh yes please! my piston-landing-gear crane is just not what it should be.

Please help support my "Furniture and Greenhouse" idea. It really is a good idea, if I say so myself. Personally, I think the game has overlooked a vital part of ship building. We have no furniture, like beds and desks or no bathroom items, like sinks, toilets and showers. Anyway, there's more to my idea, I would appreciate any votes. Thank you.

Not only a rope, but a cable that transmits energy.
