Power Priority System
I propose a better, drastically more flexible system for power priorities, which should solve everyone's gripes about where power is distributed. Every producer of power will have a power producer priority, which is an arbitrary number that the user can set for each individual block. Every consumer of power will have a power consumer priority, which is an arbitrary number that the user can set for each individual block. Blocks that both produce and consume power, such as batteries, will have two priorities, one for consuming and one for producing. Consumers can only ever be powered by producers whose priority level is less than or equal to the priority level of the consumer. Power is consumed from the lowest priority producers first, and the highest priority consumers have first dibs on produced power. Using this system you can do all sorts of things such as relying on nuclear as your primary power with batteries charged from nuclear to provide burst energy over what nuclear can provide, or perhaps you want solars as the primary source with batteries charged only from solars as a fallback and nuclear as the ultimate final fallback for emergency systems only. With granularity down to the individual block, you have full control over your ship's power system!

I like this idea, so long as you can also fully exclude some components using the priorities. For example, if you want batteries to ONLY charge from solar ever, never to use reactor power at all. If we have that level of distribution control, I'm all in!

If you want batteries to only charge from solar and not reactor, then make sure the consumer priority of the batteries is greater than the producer priority of solars but less than the producer priority of reactors. So yes, you do have that level of distribution control.

I would like the ability to specify a reactor or battery that will ONLY power the medical bay and cryo. If the rest of power system gets gobbled up by endless production I should still have no worries about spawning in when I rejoin server.

@AutoMcD - Set the producer priority of the reactor or battery to be higher than all your other consumers, then set the consumer priority of your medical bay and cryo to be higher than the producer priority of the reactor or battery.

I also like this idea, i have been looking for a script that would do it. It would be neat to add Selective power capabilities to batteries, so that it is possible to direct a single battery (or string of batteries) to power either a single important block, or sensor/timer/ programmable block arrays via a "Setup" field similar to timer blocks.

Please help support my "Furniture and Greenhouse" idea. It really is a good idea, if I say so myself. Personally, I think the game has overlooked a vital part of ship building. We have no furniture, like beds and desks or no bathroom items, like sinks, toilets and showers. Anyway, there's more to my idea, I would appreciate any votes. Thank you.

Quite complex to use on large grids with plenty of stuff, but still, a much needed feature ;p
