Airlocks Without Scripting: Doors with pressure sensors and action triggers
Airlocks should be a workable but not too difficult engineering problem to solve in a space game without having to resort to scripting or a billion timers. Add an option in the doors to require an equal(ish) pressure on both sides to be able to open. The idea is that when a user tries to open a door but there's a pressure differential, you can set the door up to signal the pressurizing or depressurizing (whatever the need) of an airvent, and the closing of another door. The first door will not open until the pressure is equalized. Idea probably needs refinement, but the base concept is to make _proper_ airlocks viable and commonplace without having to be a real-life engineer ;) IMO the pressure management is one of the more obvious engineering requirements for a space game. _Very_ important. Let's make it better!

Better yet, Let us conveyor to sliding doors and let them have a integrated air vent.

@Matterom personally I don't consider that "better" to be honest...

or make the popular airlock block sliding door vanilla..

I like the idea of pressure sensors (like one block in front of the door right?) if it detects a player via settings (friendly enemy, neutral, or even grids...etc..) it opens and closes about 1/2 the way inside the door. Alternatively ... fixing timers would be nice (unless i missed something about those being fixed)

also add a possibility for the door button not to open the door but to trigger an action Because today we need to add a buttons panel next to the door to execute complexe script before opening the door and user can by pass it by clicking on the door

My vote (if I had any left...) would be for a new type of door designated for airlocks. The new door (more materials than normal) would incorporate a Sensor to detect pressure on both sides. The default setting would be to NOT open the door if there is a great differential between the two sides. Players could reset this if desired. Of course, I also think there should be doors with sensors built in as a default but that's just me.

How about a double sided sliding door with a integrated sensor (size 1x1x1)? With only one door opened at the same time. The loss of oxygen would be minimal. In general I would integrate a sensor in every door.

Please help support my "Furniture and Greenhouse" idea. It really is a good idea, if I say so myself. Personally, I think the game has overlooked a vital part of ship building. We have no furniture, like beds and desks or no bathroom items, like sinks, toilets and showers. Anyway, there's more to my idea, I would appreciate any votes. Thank you.
