Airlocks Without Scripting: Doors with pressure sensors and action triggers
Airlocks should be a workable but not too difficult engineering problem to solve in a space game without having to resort to scripting or a billion timers.
Add an option in the doors to require an equal(ish) pressure on both sides to be able to open. The idea is that when a user tries to open a door but there's a pressure differential, you can set the door up to signal the pressurizing or depressurizing (whatever the need) of an airvent, and the closing of another door. The first door will not open until the pressure is equalized.
Idea probably needs refinement, but the base concept is to make _proper_ airlocks viable and commonplace without having to be a real-life engineer ;) IMO the pressure management is one of the more obvious engineering requirements for a space game. _Very_ important. Let's make it better!
